Booking.com Just lately, according to a Facebook post from a named Sofia Wisdom, Mr. Paul William a driver of taxi with plate number AAB 3571 was recognized because of his effort to find ways to return a smartphone he doesn't know how to operate.

The owner of the smartphone said she accidentally left her phone inside the cab. She tried calling the phone through her son's phone but it just keep ringing and no one is picking it up. They tried calling the phone and after two hours, someone answered and told her to pick her phone in a store located near her house.

The reason why the Mr. William is not picking up the phone is because he doesn't know well how to operate such modern phone gadget.

"The driver knew well that the phone was ringing but he's not knowledgeable to operate the phone, so he just left the sound disturbed his ears that long," Wisdom wrote. "He alleged that he went twice to our residence (as far as Tam-awan) expecting that someone would be up there at the gate waiting, but to no avail. What he did was to park his vehicle beside the store and let someone answer the phone for him," she added.

Wisdom commended the driver for his action including the passenger who found the phone and turned over it to William.

"May this dear manong be showered with abundant blessings for his deed. The phone is just an item which can be replaced, but his man is commendable whose act is to be cherished. My salute too to the young passenger next to my son." Wisdom praised.

Not only Mr. William's action is a testimony of Baguio City as home of honest taxi drivers. There are countless stories that have been told with the same incidence where passengers who claimed they were able to get back their lost items because of the effort of the drivers.

  4. I have to say lucky for him. But this is not always the case. Lost my phone in a taxi, and encountered same driver but he lied and denied. Wala bumalik walang nagbalik. So this is a good scenario pero HINDI LAHAT HONEST. Karma nlng sa nagnakaw. Beast mode.

  5. I don't agree. Many years ago, seeing that my younger brother and I spoke English and being picked up at the bus terminals off of Session Rd, a taxi driver said his meter was broke and proceeded to overcharge us. Young and gullible as we were, we just let it slide, but it still left a bitter memory for me. I was born and raised in Baguio City, so I consider it my hometown.

  13. What I can say is that, not all taxi drivers are honest since I'm living for long here in Baguio. I just experienced this type of issue where I left my phone (Iphone 6S) inside the car. We are trying to contact this for 2 days and it's just ringing only and after 1 week of locating where it is. It's just disappeared on FIND Location, so maybe they just reset it and enjoying the phone now.

20. I remember one time,I got of from Joy Bus and went straight to a taxi in Baguio then locked my door. Taxi driver told me, "ma'am, taga maynila ka noh?'" then I asked him why, he said "nag lock ka po kasi ng pinto. Safe naman po kayo dito sa Baguio." Then it hit me. Yea. This is waydifferent from Manila.

  22. I remember i was a working student when i was rushing going to work at MI.Naiwan yung phone ko sa taxi.Di ko alam plate no. Nung sinakyan ko so rining ko ng rining yung phone until may nag message san daw location ko para idaan nya.Dinala ni manong sa working place ko sabi ko kay manong itreat ko sya ng manok inreturn for giving back my phone pero ayaw nya kc magpapasada p daw. Thank you Manong.

Cordillerans are mostly honest, humble, kind and hardworking.Di man sila laging nafea2ture unlike other cities or provinces kc mahihiyain sila yung mga tipical "shymango" sbi nga nla. Kung may mga gumagawa ng mga crime s city of Baguio karamihan mga "taga baba" or di taga Baguio/cordillera.

  26. Well, not only taxi drivers...
    1) Wisdom commended the driver for his action including the passenger who found the phone and turned over it to William.

2)Honest Passenger and Driver returns lost P400,000 to a former OFW

In addition to being honest in returning items, our Baguio Taxi drivers return even a 50centavo change. (If a taxi driver doesn't give back your change ask what place/province he came from...but Number one thing owners of taxi tell their drivers, "Be honest, INAYAN to own what other people left in our taxi because the "Spirits" will punish us!"
