Cordillera - To formally recognize and honor Team Lakay members' contribution to the country, Benguet appointed caretaker congressman Eric Go Yap submitted a resolution to Congress to thank and praise them for bringing tremendous honor and glory to the country.
Cong. Yap said, he submitted House Resolution No. 707 as a way of recognizing and thanking the champions of Team Lakay.

"Bilang saludo ang pasasalamat sa inyong mga tagumpay, ating isunumite ang House Resolution No. 707 upang pormal na kilalanin ng Kongreso ang inyong mga ambag para sa bayan," Yap said.

Yap personally thanked current ONE Strawweight Champion Joshua Pacio, reigning Brave Combat Federation Bantamweight Champion Stephen Loman and former URCC Welterweight Champion and former ONE Lightweight Champion Eduard Folayang for their great contribution in the field of Mixed Martial Arts in the country.

Team Lakay head coach Mark Sangiao and the champions visited the House of Representative on Tuesday.

Yap met them in his office and personally handed them certificate of recognition and promised them support to improve their gym and further enhance their training.
"Maraming salamat sa pagiging inspirasyon sa maraming kabataang Pilipino na may pangarap magpursige sa kani-kanilang larangan. Asahan ninyo na nasa likod ninyo kami at handang sumporta hanggang sa abot nga aming makakaya. Mabuhay kayo! Mabuhay ang Pilipino, Yap added.

Team Lakay is a Benguet-based Mixed Martial Art team in the Philippines. It was founded by former mixed martial artist Mark Sangiao.

The team operates in a close to zero budget with a gym that is not air conditioned, no state of the art training facilities but produced the best mixed martial artists that are making waves in major international organizations.

Benguet caretaker Cong. Yap passes bill to re-nationalize BeGH, increase bed capacity from 200 to 400

Cordillera - Appointed Benguet Caretaker Anti-Crime and Terrorism Community Involvement and Support (ACT-CIS) Party List Congressman Eric Go Yap passed House Bill No. 6171 on Wednesday.

The bill aims to restore the management of the Benguet General Hospital (BeGH) to the national government and increases the current bed capacity of the hospital from 200 to 400.

Cong. Yap said returning the management of BeGH to the national government would ensure bigger and continues funds for the hospital and not just rely on the funds of the provincial government and the hospital's own fund.

"Upang makatiyak tayo na malaki at tuloy-tuloy and pondong mailalaan para sa hospital at hindi lang basta aasa sa pondo ng Provincial Government at sariling kita ng ospital," Cong. Yap said in a statement.

He added that turning the hospital to the government will benefit those who need medical help due to the level of health service provided by the government.

"Dahil dito, lubos na makikinabang ang mga nangangailangan ng tulong medical dahil maitataas ang antas ng health service delivery ng hospital," he said.

House Bill No. 6171 is the first bill Cong. Yap had passed since assuming post as an appointed caretaker of Benguet.

On January 29, Cong. Yap was welcomed by Benguet officials and employees during his visit to the province.

In a speech, he assured that he will do whatever he can for the development of the province and its constituents.

He also said that he will continue the work of the late Congressman Nestor B. Fongwan Sr.
