He emphasized that the local government of Baguio was able to prevent the
further spread of COVID-19 because of the citizens who work together with
the government.
"We were only able to manage the virus because Baguio residents worked with
the government and supported measures we had set in place," Magalong said
on Facebook post.
The city is set to slowly test the waters of the new normal by reopening
its tourism industry.
"Covid-19 will never go away, hence we need to co-exist with it, we need to
learn how to live with it, how to function with it and how to do business
with it on our midst," Magalong said.
On Friday (Sept. 19), Magalong was joined by National Action Plan Against
Covid-19, Deputy Chief Implementer Sec. Vince Dizon. Presidential
Spokesperson Sec. Harry Roque led the inspection of establishments along
Session Road and the triage at the Baguio Convention Center before the city
officially reopens to incoming tourists.
Magalong said that the decision to reopen the tourism industry was set because the
people need jobs to sustain their lives and to prevent people from getting
depressed due to the current pandemic.
