WATCH: Igorot Fighter Lito Adiwang Defeats Mattheis with Lightning 23-Second Victory in Round One

Cordillera - In a stunning return to the mixed martial arts scene, strawweight powerhouse Lito Adiwang made his presence felt with a lightning-fast victory that left the crowd at Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, in awe. 

Adiwang, who had been sidelined for 18 months due to injury, wasted no time in showcasing his remarkable skillset at ONE Friday Fights 34.

Facing off against Adrian Mattheis, Adiwang needed just 23 seconds to secure a victory that sent shockwaves through the MMA world. 

With a single, precise right hand to Mattheis' chin, Adiwang sent his opponent tumbling to the canvas in the opening moments of the bout.

Known for his relentless aggression and striking prowess, Adiwang pounced on the opportunity, unleashing a flurry of unanswered punches. 

The referee had no choice but to intervene and stop the contest, awarding Adiwang a quick and impressive technical knockout victory.

This triumphant return improved Adiwang's professional record to 14 wins and 5 losses, while Mattheis' record dropped to 11 wins and 7 losses. 

Adiwang's last appearance in the ONE Championship was at ONE: X in March 2022, where he sustained an injury in a bout against Jeremy Miado.

Lito Adiwang is back, to fight unbeaten Mansur Malachiev in January

Cordillera - After resting and recovering from injury, Team Lakay's hard-hitting fighter Lito Adiwang is finally back as he will return to action this January 2023. 

In an announcement by Team Lakay, Adiwang will be facing undefeated Mansur Malachiev on the undercard of ONE on Prime Video 6 on January 14, 2023 at the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand.

"Lito suffered an ACL injury last March and have been focusing on his recovery in the past months. Now, stronger and better, he will be back in the circle and remind the division who the Thunderkid is", the note said. 

For Adiwang, he is 100 percent ready for the fight after numerous unfavorable situations he was in.

“The desire to win this fight is one hundred percent. The monster in me has awakened again after all the pain and trials plus the losses of my teammates. I am coming to this fight with a bulletproof mindset,” Adiwang said.

“With back-to-back trials in my career and life, tasting defeats in the game, injury and losses in life, it's painful and demoralizing that I reached my breaking point. If I sank into these emotional and painful feelings it can be my downfall,” he added.

Igorot fighter Lito Adiwang defeats Hexigetu in ONE: Revolution

Cordillera - Team Lakay mixed martial artist Lito Adiwang is victorious tonight as he defeated Chinese grappler Hexigetu on the loaded ONE: Revolution tonight (September 24, 2021) in Singapore. 

Early in the first round, the Igorot fighter unloaded a flying knee kick on Hexigetu followed by a powerful high kick to the head that got the Chinese stunned and running.

Hexigetu who is known for his grappling skills didn't work out well in his encounter with Adiwang as he was force to follow Lito's dictate to put the fight in the standing position. 

Lito's take down defense is impressive through out the whole fight while Hexigetu was quite frustrated on putting the Team Lakay kid to the ground. 

It was a victory for Lito as he improved his fight record to 13 wins with 2 losses.

Rodtang responds to Team Lakay Adiwang's callout: "I welcome him to meet me"

Cordillera - The undefeated Muay Thai superstar of Thailand has finally responded to the request of Team Lakay Lito Adiwang for a match. 

Recently, Lito Adiwang has been vocal in his call to have a fight with Rodtang because he believed he has the toolset to tarnish the zero-loss record of the Thai fighter.

"I know I'll come in as a heavy underdog, but I believe I have the tools to beat Rodtang because I've been seeing holes in his game," Adiwang said.

In respond to the call, Rodtang said that he is willing to face Adiwang in the cage with conditions.

"If Lito thinks he has some of tricks to beat me, then I welcome him to meet me," Rodtang said via ONE Championship.

"It also depends on the rule set, whether it is Muay Thai, kickboxing, or MMA. If it were MMA, then I would like to have tome to train - at least one year." Rodtang added.

The Team Lakay rising star fights in Mixed Martial Arts, while Rodtang competes at kickboxing and Muay Thai.

Lito Adiwang defeats Japanese Kawahara via 2nd round TKO

Cordillera - Lito "The Thunder Kid" Adiwang of Team Lakay did not wait for the scheduled five rounds as he took down his Japanese foe in the 2nd round and claim victory.

Armed with an impressive game plan of taking the Japanese guard in the leg with powerful low kicks since round one followed by an explosive punch that toppled the Japanese in the 2nd round, Adiwang has gotten back to the winning side of ONE Championship. 

True to his word, Adiwang has delivered an exciting fight for MMA fans. 

His winning over Kawahara could be a one step closer to his wish of having a rematch with Hiroba Minowa. 

Adiwang has improve his record to 12 wins and 3 losses.

Igorot "Thunder Kid" Adiwang to face the "Wolf" of China in ONE: Revolution

Cordillera - Team Lakay mixed martial artist Lito "The Thunder Kid Adiwang is scheduled to face tough Chinese fighter "Wolf of the Grassland" Hexigetu in ONE: Revolution. 

Set on September 24, 2021, the young fighter from Cordillera will be showcasing yet another exciting fight this year.

Prior to ONE Revolution, Adiwang was able to bounce back by defeating Namiki Kawahara, while Hexigetu is on his three win streak so far.  

With a record of 8-4-0, Hexigetu holds the 2015 CMPC Fighter of The Year when he defeated Ramon Gonzalez and former ONE Strawweight World Champion Dejdamrong Sor. Amnuaysirichoke.

Lito Adiwang dedicates upcoming fight to terminally ill mother

Cordillera - "I need to win this for her". These are the words of Team Lakay Lito Adiwang as a commitment to win his upcoming fight this Friday. 

Adiwang will be fighting, with his mom in his mind. Her mother has been suffering from stroke since 2016 and got worsened last year. 

"In 2016, she had her first stroke. She had to use crutches. In 2019, it got worse. She suffered stroke and half of her body was paralyzed. From there, her health continued to deteriorate until 2020, she became bedridden," Adiwang said via ONE Championship.

The doctor told Adiwang's family to be prepared for the worst and to be tough because  her mother's remaining days are numbered.

This coming Friday, Adiwang returns to ONE Championship cage against Hiroba Minowa of Japan in ONE: Inside the Matrix III in Singapore. 

If Adiwang had one wish for her mom, that is to travel the world  with her. 

"One of my dream is to bring her out of the country, to all these places I've already been to," Adiwang said. 

Although he felt that opportunity could not happen due to her present condition, Adiwang continued to show his support and love to her mother and promised to be a better son.

Igorot MMA figther Lito Adiwang is unstoppable, defeats Thai foe via Kimura lock in 1st round


Cordillera - Cordilleran MMA prospect Lito Adiwang proved once again that he deserved to be included in ONE Championship - the largest global sports media property in Asia after defeating his Thai opponent early in the first round. 


Adiwang didn't waste his time in the round, unleashing thunderous strikes to the head and body of Mitsatit of Thailand.

It didn't take long for Adiwang to submit his Thai opponent via kimura lock in 3:02 mark in the first round. 

His submission victory has earned him another point to up his impressive winning streak to seven with six wins came via submission and knockout.

Young and new to ONE Championship, Adiwang believed in the importance of training the mind and believing in your capability. 

"Ever since I matured in mixed martial arts, the key was really my mindset," Adiwang said. 

"No matter how strong you are , or how good you are, I'll put my mind that I can beat you anyway." he added.

The Baguio-based fighter training out of Team Lakay stable join Rich Franklin's ONE Warrior Series, and since then proved that he is going straight to becoming a world champion someday.

His recent victory over Mitsatit had put him in a conversation for the strawweigth world championship bout that could happen any time soon.

Team Lakay's Lito Adiwang defeats Japanese Senzo Ikeda via first round TKO

Cordillera - ONE Warrior Series contract winner Lito Adiwang of Team Lakay wins his first victory in One Championship in the Prelims of ONE: Century Part 1 in Tokyo.

The 26-year old Adiwang defeated Pancrase Flyweight World Champion Senzo Ikeda early in the first round in a strawweight mixed martial arts contest Sunday morning. 

Adiwang surprised the Japanese Champion who is known for his excellent boxing and ground game but struggled under the tight grip of the young Pinoy fighter.

Adiwang caught and managed to neutralized Ikeda in an arm lock in the first round. 

The referee put a stop to the match after Ikeda suffered a left arm injury and was not able to continue the fight. 

Adiwang gave Team Lakay their first win in the start of ONE: Century Part I.

Lito Adiwang - a rising Cordilleran MMA champion

Cordillera - Considered as one of Team Lakay's rising MMA star in the pipeline, Lito Adiwang proved once again that he is going straight to becoming a world champion someday. 

The Baguio-based young fighter got his chance to join Rich Franklin's ONE Warrior Series and had his second big break when he floored down Alber Corrreia da Silva earlier in the first round during their encounter in Singapore yesterday. 

The 25-year old Adiwang used his unconventional way of attacking his opponent. His unanticipated assault followed by his blinding speed in punching made a big difference in the fight. 

He caught Silva with a big left straight causing Silva to recline to the canvas. Adiwang didn't miss his chance, he followed Silva to the ground and unloaded series of big punches forcing the referee to halt the fight in under 45-seconds. 

Adiwang's excellent performance gave yet another victory for La Trinidad-based MMA Gym Team Lakay. Adiwang now improved his record to 7-2. 

Will Adiwang be the next exciting fighter for Team Lakay and can follow the footstep of top-tier Team Lakay champions like ONE Lightweight World Champion Eduard Folayang and ONE Interim Bantamweight World Champion Kevin Belingon? The big chance is there especially that he is under the careful watch and mentoring of one of the best coach Mark Sangiao.
