Tourism activities in Atok, Benguet to resume by March 8, 2022

Cordillera - Popular tourist destinations in Atok, Benguet will resume operation effective March 8, 2022 as announced by the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Atok. 

In a press released posted on LGU Atok - Mayor's Office Facebook page on February 16, visitors may now visit famous spots in Atok starting March 8 next month except on Mondays and Fridays.

However, visitors must undergo triage and registration located at Kilometer 22, Caliking, Atok, Benguet prior to entering their destinations.

The resumption of tourism activities in the town will help the locals of Atok recover from economic losses brought by the pandemic.

The town of Atok is one of the top tourist destinations in Benguet. It houses the famous Northern Blossom Flower Farm, the Sakura (Cherry Blossom) Park, Highest Point, Mt. Timbak and the Spanish Trail.

Atok Tourism Activities to Resume Today (February 22, 2020)

Cordillera - Tourists spots in Atok, Benguet, such as the Northern Blossom Flower Farm, the Sakura Farm, and the Haight's Place will be back to normal operation today (February 22, 2020) after the local government lifted the temporary suspension of all tourism activities due to the threat of the Coronavirus disease.

Atok mayor Raymundo Sarac said in a radio interview that the suspension of all tourism sites was lifted but urged all visitors to abide by the rules set forth by the local government. 

He said that tourists must register to the tourism site owners or operators so that the numbers of tourists going to each destination in Atok will be controlled.

Tourists can register at the Paoay Barangay Hall located at Sayangan, Paoay, Atok, Benguet before visiting the tourism sites.

All establishments were also advised to provide hand sanitizers for their costumers to use. 


It can be recalled that the local government of Atok had suspended all tourism-related activities in the municipality starting last February 6, 2020 as a precautionary measure against the spread of the Novel Coronavirus.

Atok, Benguet has been a popular tourist destinations for local and international tourists for its captivating landscape of beautiful flowers on top of a mountain.

The farm is vast and has many varieties of flowers that includes the calla lilies, the round purple flowers,  the cabbage roses and many more.

There are also succulents planted as a yin yang and sprouting out of a rip rap.

Cherry Blossoms in Atok, Benguet expected to start blooming in March and April this year

Cordillera - After four years of waiting, the Sakura trees or Cherry Blossoms in Atok, Benguet may soon begin to bloom in March and April this year. 

Philip John Haight, caretaker of the Sakura park located in Paoay, Atok, Benguet said in a local TV station that the Sakura trees will start to bloom after the first rain of this year. 

Sakura trees tend to bloom in March or April but it could depend on the rain. 

According to Haight, if the rains come early, it is expected that Sakura should start blooming flowers already.

34 Sakura trees were planted in Atok, Benguet in 2016 which were given to the province of Benguet by the Japanese government of Kochi prefecture as a sign of friendship.

Haight clarifies that the news published on some social media websites that the Sakura trees are in full bloom were incorrect. 

Visitors should not expect to see Sakura trees in full bloom as of this moment however, the Cosmos Flower Farms and the vegetable gardens are something they should not miss.
