Cordillera - A proud Cordilleran Mr. Jason Ivan Imbal Sobremonte has won a gold medal during the 2023 World Championships of Performing Arts (WCOPA) held at Anaheim, California, U.S.A on July 28 - August 6, 2023.
Sobremonte who hails from Tuba, Benguet, achieved the title of champion in the Contortion Flexibility and Contortion Advanced Division. This accomplishment came following his attainment of a gold medal in the dance category, a silver medal in the Contortion Advanced division, and a bronze medal in the Contortion Open category.
Sobremonte, a Mining Engineer at Philex Mining Corporation was recognized as a multi-medalist in the said event dubbed as "Talent Olympics" participated by talented individuals from 70 different countries.
"Felling incredibly blessed and humbled to be recognized a a multi-medalist in the World Championships of Performing Arts -WCOPA 2023. Grateful for all the prayers, financial and moral support, and amazing opportunities that led to this achievement," Sobremonte said in a post.
Sobremonte was among the Filipino artists who represented the Philippines in this prestigious competition.
Once more, the Philippines has clinched the title of Grand Champion in the esteemed international competition, marking a triumphant return after a six-year interval. The nation has proudly garnered a remarkable sum of 362 medals.
