In his YouTube video, Dr. Tiwaquen explains that aneurysm is the bulging or ballooning of the artery wall in any part of our body.
According to him, aneurysm usually forms in the largest blood vessel of the body called the aorta, the main blood vessel that carries blood from the heart to the body.
The most common causes of aneurysm are high level of cholesterol in the body, high blood pressure and smoking, swelling of vein walls due to untreated infections, or you may have family history of aneurysm.
While there's no usual or evident symptoms for aneurysm, Dr. Tiwaquen said that CT scan and MRI can detect aneurysm.
However, in the case of Thoracic aneurysm which appears in the upper aorta, symptoms can be a bulging of more than 6 cm. which can obstruct the esophagus causing difficulty of swallowing and breathing.
If aneurysm appears in the lower aorta, a doctor can feel a lump in the abdomen. If aneurysm occurs in the brain, the common symptoms include severe headache, double vision, stiff neck, and vomiting.
Dr. Tiwaquen noted however, that having those mentioned symptoms does not necessarily mean it's an aneurysm.
He advised that if you have these symptoms, it is very important not to ignore but seek immediate medical advice from doctors.
Can we avoid aneurysm? The good news is, Yes! Is there a medicine to cure this? Sorry, No! So, if prevention is better than cure, how if there's no cure? Then, prevention will always be the best option.
According to Dr. Tiwaquen, aneurysm can be avoided by maintaining a low level of cholesterol in your blood by not consuming too much fatty foods, fried food and fast food.
If you have a high blood pressure, make sure to take your maintenance and regularly monitor your blood pressure.
