Baguio City praised for keeping covid-19 cases zero in 10 days

Cordillera - The local government of Baguio city headed by Mayor Benjie Magalong was hailed as a model local government for keeping the deadly virus Covid-19 at bay.
On Wednesday, Retired General Restituto Padilla, the spokesperson of the National Task Force Covid-19 praised Magalong for his effort in flattening the curve of covid-19 cases for almost 10 days.

Padilla noted three important steps that the city government has effectively implemented to maintain the zero covid-19 cases. These are transparency and communication, mass testing and effective contact tracing.

"Tatlo po and direksyon na kaniyan tinatahak. Una, transparency and communication; pangalawa, mas testing; at pangatlo, effective contact tracing," Padilla said in a statement.

Padilla hopes that all local government units in the country will understand and implement the action plan that was set forth by the national government.
"Lahat po ito ay sang-ayon sa ating national action plan template na sana ay maintindihan at magawa ng lahat ng ating mga LGUs sa iba't ibang panig ng bansa," he added.

For the past 10 days, Baguio city had not recorded any new covid-19 cases keeping the latest record at only 14 cases.

Magalong attributed the halting of covid-19 cases to its effective action plans and to the local government's sense of urgency and preparedness.
