Cordillera - Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte has declared an Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) to the entire island of Luzon starting 12:00 AM of March 17, 2020 to 12:00 AM of April 13, 2020.
The president declares the ECQ to protect the people from getting infected by the vicious COVID-19 virus.
The Philippine Information Agency (PIA) stated that Duterte's placing of the whole Luzon to ECQ does not mean Martial Law but it is the best way to fight the corona virus and to safeguard the safety and the well-being of Filipinos.
"We are not facing an invasion or rebellion, but we are fighting against a vicious and invisible enemy, which is the coronavirus diseases 2019 (COVID-19), the the need to prioritize the health safety and well-being of Filipinos," Duterte said in his nation address.
Here is what you need to know about the Enhanced Community Quarantine in Luzon sourced out from the Philippine Information Agency.
1. Classes and all school activities in all levels including TESDA are all suspended until 14 April 2020.
2. Mass Gatherings are Prohibited.
3. Strict home quarantine in all households; movement shall be limited to accessing foods and essentials health services. Presence of uniformed personnel will be heightened.
4. Work from home arrangement in the executive branch except PNP, AFP, PCG, and health and emergency frontline services, border control and other critical services.
5. Private establishment providing basic necessities and such activities related to food and medicine production, markets, stores, hospitals, clinics, drug stores, water-refilling stations, manufacturing and processing plants of basic food products and medicines, banks, money transfer services, power, energy, water and telecommunications, shall be open.
Business Process Outsourcing and export-oriented industries shall remain operational subject to observation of social distancing measures and with skeletal work force.
Media personnel may travel within the quarantine area but shall secure and identification card from the President Communications Operations Office within 72 hours upon effectivity of the Enhance Community Quarantine.
6. Mass Public Transport, suspended.
7. Land, air, and sea travel, restricted. Movement of Cargos within to and from the entire Luzon shall be unhampered.
