In a press release by Malacañang on Friday (February 14, 2020), Duterte has approved the nomination of Mr. Bersamin to chair the GSIS and as a member of the Board of Trustees.

"We are confident that Mr. Bersamin would serve the GSIS with the same dedication and integrity he demonstrated in his many years of government service," Malacañang Palace spokesperson Salvador Panelo said in a statement.
