Philippines' Biggest Kettle is found in Tublay, Benguet

Cordillera - A new attraction is soon to open for tourists visiting Cordillera this year as the Polig's Farm located in KM 21, Ambassador, Tublay will open its first biggest "Takore" kettle to the public. 

Made out of pure steel and GI sheets for the walls, the newly constructed kettle coffee shop can accommodate several people inside. It has a diameter of 24ft and a height of 20ft.

Mankayan, Benguet is now the home of the largest gong in the Philippines
The owner of the farm's idea is for visitors and tourists to experience drinking the best Benguet coffee inside the giant kettle. 

Polig's Farm is among the 5 tourist sites that were opened for residents of Benguet.

In an executive order issued by Mayor Armando Lauro, tourists who wish to visit these sites are required to follow strict health protocols and must present Health Declaration and Valid ID upon entry. 

The five tourist sites that were allowed to operate from January 7 to February 7 are Asin Hotspring, Ahonda Caves, Rock Formations and Jungle Adventure, Balete Tree, The Ridge Cafe and Polig's Berry Farm.

12th Grader Igorot Boy Wins Top Award for 'Portable Electricity Generator' Invention

Cordillera - A young Igorot inventor has found a way to generate electricity with his new invention that has win top award during the recently concluded 2020 National Science and Technology Fair (NSTF) held on March 2 to 6 in Quezon City.

12th grader Jan Lymar A. Becte, a STEM student of Tublay School of Home Industries located in Acop, Caponga, Tublay, Benguet was a one of the top awardees in the Science Innovation Expo Category. 

His invention is called "Innovative Portable Electricity Generator" is among the top 3 winners of the said category.

Prior to winning the NSTF award, Becte's invention has been a recipient of the One Meralco Foundation's Energy Innovation Award for his exemplary works in utilizing energy and technology products to help address social challenges.

Meanwhile, Williann Angelo Pangilinan, a student of Angeles City Science High School was awarded as the Best Presenter in the Robotics and Intelligent Machines Category.

Winners of the 2020 NSTF will have a chance to represent the Philippines at the 2020 Intel International Science and Engineering Fair in Anaheim, California.

The NSTF 2020 is organized by the Department of Education in cooperation with the Gokongwei Brothers Foundation, One Meralco, International Labor Organization, American Spaces Philippines, and the Embassy of the United States of America

New 2.2 Kilometer access road to Tublay, Benguet now completed - DPWH

Cordillera - Tublay, a landlocked agricultural municipality in Benguet, is now more accessible to tourists traders with the completion of the new Acop-Kapangan-Kibungan-Bakun Junction to Bangho-Daclan-Basil-Tublay Central Road. 
Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark A. Villar announced that safer and more convenient travel awaits tourists visiting Tublay with completion of the 2.2 kilometer concrete road that serves as an alternate route for the existing Acop-Kapangan-Kibungan-Bakun Road. 

The construction of the new Acop-Kapangan-Kibungan-Bakun Junction to Bangho-Daclan-Basil-Tublay Central Road is part of the Roads Levering Linkages of Industry and Trade of the ROLL IT Program, a convergence and special support program of the Department of Trade and Industries (DTI) and DPWH aimed to provide economic opportunities in the municipality. 

The road project involves construction a new access road, slope protection, curb and gutter, installation of concrete barrier in high elevation areas. 

According to DPWH Benguet Second District Engineer Romelda A. Bangasan, a total of P87.7 -million was allocated for the road project which also involved widening of narrow road sections from eight (8) to nine (9) meters.
"Aside from the boost in tourism, we are glad to provide better road infrastructure to facilitate faster delivery of goods from farms to markets are the municipality on one of the major vegetable producers in Cordillera," Secretary Villar said.
