Cordillera - In a groundbreaking announcement, Megawide Corporation unveiled its ambitious plan to construct the first Intermodal Bus Terminal in the picturesque city of Baguio. The momentous revelation took place during the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Summit held on October 4th and 5th, 2023.

This project represents a significant leap forward in terms of providing a modern and convenient intermodal transport facility for both Baguio City residents and tourists alike. The terminal is designed to be a central hub where passengers can effortlessly navigate the complex web of transportation options, purchase tickets, and enjoy a comfortable and spacious waiting area.

One of the key highlights of this initiative is its commitment to the local community. Megawide Corporation has pledged to prioritize the hiring of qualified applicants from Baguio for both the construction and operation phases. This move will not only contribute to job creation but also enhance the local economy through increased business permits and tax revenues for the local government.

The Intermodal Bus Terminal's objectives are multifaceted, aiming to consolidate provincial buses, UVs, modern Jeepneys, and taxis while offering better passenger amenities and high-quality facilities for transport operators. Additionally, the terminal's design will incorporate iconic elements that reflect Baguio's rich culture and heritage.

The proposed location of the terminal is set in Dontogan, conveniently situated just 4 kilometers from the city's central business district. This strategic location is expected to cater to travelers from the south as well as the immediate vicinity of Baguio city.

With an expansive area spanning 5 hectares and an estimated cost of P1.025 billion, the terminal will feature dedicated loading and unloading bays for provincial and in-city transport, a staging area, passenger waiting sections complete with commercial offerings, and public parking for park-and-ride convenience.

The Intermodal Bus Terminal project by Megawide Corporation is a promising endeavor that not only addresses the city's transportation needs but also reflects the company's commitment to sustainable development and community integration. It is anticipated to become a pivotal infrastructure development for the city of Baguio and the surrounding regions.
