Cordillera - Tourists who are planning to visit Baguio on the weekends can now pass the historic Kennon Road after the Department of Public Works and Highways in the Cordillera Administrative Region (DPWH-CAR) has announced its opening in an advisory.

The opening of the road will start from 6 pm on Fridays until 6 am on Mondays. This scheme will run until Holy Week, which begins on Palm Sunday, April 14.

Take note though that only light vehicles weighing 5 tons and below will be allowed to pass through.

It can be recalled that Kennon road was closed to traffic after geologists and experts from DPWH had found out the risks of accident it can caused to motorists during bad weather.

Officials and representatives of the Office of the Civil Defense (OCD), Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), and concerned local government units vowed to ensure the safety of motorist who would be using the road going to Baguio.
