Cordillera - The Luis Hora Regional Memorial Hospital launched the Malasakit Center to serve the public, especially the poor and indigent patience who need medical assistance from the government.
Senator Bong Go, Chair of the Senate Committee on Health and Demography said in a virtual launching that the Center is open to all Filipinos who are in need of medical assistance.
“Inumpishan po namin sa Cebu as a pilot area at naging successful po to at more than 300, 000 na po ang natulungan. Kaya noong naging senador po ako isinulong ko na ito ay maging isang batas na pinirmahan ni Pangulong Duterte para maging one-stop shop sa loob ng hospital na tulungan maging zero balance ang bayarin sa hospital para sa mga poor and indigent patients,” Go said.
“Basta Pilipino ka qualified ka. Wala pong politika, wala pinipili ang Malasakit Center,” he added.
The Malasakit center is a one-stop shop where patients in need of medical assistance will only need to sign a single form in order to avail of the program.
The center will serve as an office that hosts different government agencies that provide medical and financial assistance such as the Department of Health, Department of Social Welfare and Development, Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office and the Philippine Health Insurance Corp.
Funding of the Malasakit Center for medical and financial assistance would come from the budget of concerned agencies with programs for the poor and indigents patients.
