Cordillera - Young performing artists from the province of Abra won the National Music Competition for Young Artist (NAMCYA) in Pasay City on December 1, 2019.
School kids from the Liwang Elementary School in Malibcong, Abra performed the traditional music of Cordillera "SONGA UD LIWANG" using indigenous musical instruments made up of bamboo and gongs of the Tinguian tribe, according to abrenean.com
The kids were trained by Judy Ann Alunday through SDO Abra.
The NAMCYA is a foundation that seeks to discover major music talents from all over the Philippines.

Founded in 1973, NAMCYA goal is to encourage young artist who excel in music composition and performance to preserve, develop and promote Philippine music as an art and a handmade of cultural development.
Through Presidential Proclamation No. 1173, NAMCYA declares the period between November 26 and December 12 as National Week for Young Artists.
