Cordillera - The Philippine National Police (PNP) said on Friday that it will hire new policemen this year.

The National Police Commission and the Department of Budget and Management have authorized the PNP to fill-up 17,000 vacancies under its recruitment Program for year 2020.

These vacancies comprise the 10,000 annual regular recruitment quota and 7,000 additional quota to replace retired, deceased, dismissed, AWOL, and other separated personnel.

"We want the largest pool of applicants that we can muster from which to select only the best and most qualified candidates that will be recruited into the police service," PNP OIC, Police Lieutenant General Francisco F Gamboa said.

Gamboa added that the application is open to "able-bodied Filipino" men and women aged 21 to 30 who want to serve a noble career in the police service.

"The annual recruitment program has taken Philippine law enforcement to a higher level by closing the gap in the police-to-population ratio to within ideal limits set by law," Gamboa added.

He added that successful candidates will be appointed to the initial rank of Police Patrolman with a gross monthly salary of P29,688.00 with other mandated allowances and benefits.

The recruitment is expected to start by next week and prospective applicants are advised to prepare all necessary documents like certifications, clearances and other documentary requirements to speed up the recruitment process according to Maj. Gen. Lydon Cubos, PNP Director for Personnel and Records Management.

All applications may be filed through the PNP Online Recruitment Application System (ORAS) portal at www.pnporas.pnp.dprm.com.

"We have adopted this digital information system in recruitment application to level the playing field for all applicants by elimination opportunities for third party intervention in the rigid selection process," Cubos said.

Cubos added that under the system, applications become nameless and faceless entries and are only represented through barcodes while undergoing particular procedures.

Police Cordillera works towards being the model for PNP Good Deeds Program

Photo Courtesy || Pnp Cordillera
Cordillera - Police from the Cordilleran Administrative region had become viral on social media in recent months for being the most disciplined Regional Police Office nationwide.

Based on the report released by the National Police Commission (Napolcom), police officers from Cordillera were tagged as the most disciplined in the country.

This was backed by the recent report from the Community Evaluation Survey that cops from Cordillera got near perfect scores for all indices: Satisfaction, Trust, Respect and Safety.

Such good report is associated by the fact that cops who were raised in Cordillera followed the cultural belief of "Inayan", the fear to the perceived Supreme Being taught by their parents, grandparents and their elders in the community.

Cordilleran cops were also observed to be loyal and obedient to their elders.

For this reason, the PRO-COR Regional Police Director, PBGen. Israel Ehpraim Dickson said that the PNP Directorate for Human Resource and Doctrine has announced the designation of Cordillera cops to be a model for the creation of the Good Deeds Program that can be followed by the entire police force in the country.

Under the program, a council will be created that is similar to the Cordillera Council of Elders, which acts as a body that will instill respect and discipline among the police force.

PGen Dickson added that the PNP leadership is currently studying the effectiveness of the proposed program.

"Inaaral nila kung paano ginagawa ito sa Cordilera at gaano  kaeffective ang ginagawa natin dito na gagayahin na ng PNP leadership para maimplement sa lahat ng kapulisan dito sa Pilipinas," Dickson said via PTV Cordillera.

Cordillerans have a high respect to the Council of Elders as they are the ones who provide moral lessons and discipline. Their words and pieces of advice are meant to be followed.

The elders of Cordillera are keeping the culture of Inayan as the guiding principle for every Cordillerans to follow.

This culture along with other valued traditions still remain to be very important for every Cordillerans and they take these with them where ever they go.

Cordillera - A total of 795 uniformed personnel of the Philippine National Police (PNP) assigned in various units of the Police Regional Office Cordillera (PROCOR) were promoted to new higher ranks.

Brig. Gen Israel Ephraim Dickson, PROCOR regional director, who led the mass donning of rank, reminded the newly promoted cops in the region to abide by the rules and regulations of the police organization.

"Pangalagaan natin ang ating serbisyo. We are lucky to have been included and passed the screening by the promotions board as there were others who were not promoted for various reasons," Dickson said in a speech.

He also said that the PNP organization took the role as Santa Claus granting policemen their wishes to be promoted.

"I believe that today we are seeing the PNP in the role of Santa Claus bestowing an early Christmas gift to a select few. There is perhaps no greater gift than to be pinned with the emblem of the next higher ranks as the closing of the year for any PNP personnel," Dickson added.

He reminded the newly promoted officers to be dedicated to serve the people whom they swears to serve and protect.

He added that their promotion to higher ranks equates to a greater responsibility.
