INSPIRING: Farmer's daughter graduated Cum Laude in PMMA "Sinaglakan" Class of 2021

Cordillera - A farmer's daughter, whose parents can't afford to send her to study at the Philippine Merchant Marine Academy (PMMA) landed in the top 1 of the PMMA
"Sinaglakan" graduating class.

Ensign Jovy Bernardo of Kalinga, who graduated as Cum Laude in the class became another inspiring story of success despite financial struggles in life.

Coming from a family where both parents are farmers struggling to make ends meet and earning a meager salary, Bernardo admitted that her parents needed to borrow money from a lending company so that she can enter the academy.

She said that studying in the academy is expensive, so her parents worked hard not to mention borrowing money from a lending firm since they were already drained financially at that time.

The sacrifices of her parents paid off when Bernado not only passed the academy but graduated with flying colors and led the 162 cadets as the Cum Laude.

Apart from obtaining the highest honors, Bernardo also received the Presidential Saber Awardee, the Flag Officer-In-Command Saber Awardee and the Discipline Awardee.

She will be joining the Philippine Navy.
