Two Cordilleran kickboxers win golds for Philippines in SEA Games

Cordillera - Jean Claude Saclag and Gina Iniong Araos, both from Team Lakay have added two gold medals to the country's medal haul as they won their respective battles during the 31st Southeast Asian Games held in Vietnam. 

Saclag made a golden performance as he outclassed his Thai opponents in the men's low kick -63.5kg division title.

Meanwhile, Araos won against Warapon  Jaiteang of Thailand in the low kick women 60kg kickboxing finals.

Fellow Team Lakay kickboxer Honorio Banario settled for Bronze medal. 

The Philippine team wrapped up the first day in the 31st edition of the SEA Games with an overall medal haul of 5 golds, 11 silvers, 11 bronzes.

Philippines pride Gina Iniong clinches gold in SEA Games Women's Kickboxing

Cordillera - Sacrifices and hard works paid off for Filipino pride Gina Iniong as she bagged the gold medal in the Southeast Asian Games 2019. 

The hard-hitting Iniong of Team Lakay dominated the women's kickboxing under 55kg kick light category beating Thailand's Apichaya Mingkhwan, 3-0, on Tuesday at the Cuneta Astrodome in Pasay City. 

Iniong, who fights in ONE Championship Atomweight division was seen dominant all over three rounds of the game. 

The Thai took punishment from the Filipina veteran with flurry of punches and kicks in the first round. 

In the 2nd and 3rd round, Iniong showed greater dominance at she floored the Thai several times denying the later to score. 

Iniong was new to kickboxing but put a lot of training under the careful watch of Mark Sangiao and her team mates at Team Lakay.

Igorota MMA fighter Gina Iniong wins at ONE: Clash of Legends in Bangkok

Cordillera - Team Lakay's female MMA fighter Gina "The Conviction" Iniong proved herself to be the better fighter tonight as she defeated her Malaysian foe Jihin "Shadow Cat' Radzuan at the ONE: Clash of Legends held in Bangkok, Thailand. 

29-year old Iniong from Baguio City showed greater experience in the ring as she outpoints her younger opponent from Malaysia.

After three rounds in the cage, all three judges scored the fight via split decision declaring the Igorota from Cordillera the winner. 

Iniong has now improves her professional MMA record with eight (8) wins and four (4) losses.

ONE: Clash of Legends is the first ONE Championship bout to be held in Thailand this year featuring Muay Thai fights and Mixed Martial Bouts including Iniong VS. Radzuan in the women's atomweight division.
