Cordillera - The Australian government has shown interest in recruiting workers from the Philippines in spite of the Covid-19 pandemic, according to the Philippine Ambassador to Australia Ma. Helen Dela Vega.
Dela Vega said that the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) in Australia has been receiving job orders for Filipinos to work in Australia.
"Notwithstanding this COVID situation that we are in, nakatanggap na rin po ang ating Philippine Overseas Labor Office ng mga job orders, nagkaroon na ulit ng interes para kumuha ng mga manggagawa na galing sa Pilipinas, Dela Vega said during an interview on PTV4 Laging Handa Public Briefing.
Dela Vega said most job requirement for Filipinos in Australia are for welders, electrical engineers, and in agricultural sector, like cattle and pig farming.
"Ine-expect po namin na sooner or later, hopefully before the year is over, na maresume po ulit ang hiring of Filipino workers dito sa Australia", Dela Vega added.
